Dr. David Johnson and his wife Hui-Chun Su designed an innovative method to create a fungally-dominant amendment for restoring living soils.

The result is a specialized biological inoculum that is very different from typical composts.

At PC, we follow Johnson-Su best practice guidelines very closely. This, along with our carefully refined recipes and thorough biological analyses, is what sets this product apart.

Johnson-Su production requires:

  • Careful feedstock selection.
  • Attentive moisture management.
  • A maturation period of 9-12 months.

In other words, we’ve invested a considerable amount of our time and effort so that your time and effort can be better spent experiencing the benefits of the end product!

While Johnson-Su inoculum can be applied to the soil at any rate, it’s important to note that there are enough microbes in this 1 lb bag to coat up to 25 kg of seed, or to cover up to 1 acre in extract!

Keys to Success

  • Ensure direct contact with seeds or roots.
  • Keep the soil moist (maintaining a layer of mulch can help).
  • Make sure the product remains in the bag until you use it.
  • If you make an extract, use only dechlorinated water and aim to use it within 2 hours.
  • Combine your Johnson-Su use with other regenerative agriculture best practices (e.g. minimizing soil disturbance, keeping soil covered, adding organic matter etc).

Not all Johnson-Su is created equal - but we’re pretty proud of ours! This fungally-dominant inoculum is teeming with the sort of biology that helps support healthier soils, stronger plants, and more resilient growing systems.

Thank you for joining us on our mission to restore living soil!
