Living Material

PC Living Material is decomposed organic matter that is very rich in beneficial organisms. We offer standard and “Plus” versions (Plus has a larger volume and more worms).

It can:

• Serve as a highly-effective, all-natural compost activator/accelerator.
• Help bulk composting worms get used to a brand new system much more quickly (no need to let the system sit before adding them).
• Improve the efficiency of a vermicomposting system, helping you reach your first castings harvest more quickly!
• Help to balance some of the feeding (and other) mistakes new vermicomposters can make early on.
• Even be a less expensive (although slower) option for starting up a worm composting system, since it contains Red Wiggler worms and cocoons (Living Material Plus includes more worms).

A little goes a long way, but we recommend using your entire bag of PC Living Material right away, so all that rich biology ends up where it needs to be (not sitting on a shelf)!

SMALL (~ ¾ cup) - This amount can serve as a microbial boost for a small to medium-sized worm composting system.

MEDIUM (1 L) - This is the best overall choice for inoculating a typical home worm bin. One bag mixed in with all your other habitat materials and amendments can greatly enhance the life in your system and help you hit the ground running!

LARGE (2 L) - This size is well-suited for larger systems, including backyard composters.

Living Material Plus (4 L) - This is our largest batch of PC Living Material, and every bag also includes 50 additional “breeder” (adult) Red Wiggler Worms, making it the best choice for anyone wanting to grow their own population of composting worms! You will also receive the printed guide, "Caring For Your Red Wigglers - A Beginner's Guide for Successful Vermicomposting."

VERY IMPORTANT

• PC Living Material is not intended for use in large-scale hot composting systems, bokashi buckets, or systems you don’t want a population of composting worms in. It does work great in regular backyard composting and vermicomposting systems.
  
  
• It’s also very important to note that both Living Material products are very different from typical bulk worm orders (¼ lb, ½ lb, 1 lb etc), and should not be used the same way. Living Material (Living Material Plus, especially) can be used to start your own Red Worm population - and it is a very affordable and effective way to do so - but during the first 2 to 3 months you will need to be a lot more patient (and limit your feeding).
