Hemp Blanket

Hemp blankets are a valuable addition to your vermicomposting bin, but can also be put to use in other great ways! They are made from 100% compostable hemp fiber that serves as an excellent source of carbon in your worm bin.

Add a blanket near the top of your system to provide a dark, cozy environment for the worms, and help regulate the moisture levels in the bedding. Made from breathable, natural materials, this product helps to insulate your worm bin while still allowing for proper ventilation. It also makes it difficult for fruit flies to access food waste in your bin. (NOTE: We highly recommend keeping a thick layer of loose cover bedding over top of your blanket for even more protection).

Hemp blankets do break down more quickly than coco coir or jute blankets, but the fibers tend to be a more valuable habitat enhancer as a result. Don’t be surprised if you see lots of worms concentrating close to where the blanket is added or crawling right inside it!

In addition, hemp is a sustainable and eco-friendly material, making it a good choice for those looking to reduce their environmental impact.

The blanket measures 22" x 22" and you simply need to cut the blanket to the appropriate size for your bin. 

Great for Growing Microgreens!

These blankets can also be used as an excellent substrate for growing your own healthy microgreens. Cut in half, they fit perfectly into a standard seedling tray.

The hemp fibers provide good support and oxygenation for healthy root growth - and your used mats can be added to your composting systems once the greens have been harvested!
