July 12th, 2026 marks the 3 year anniversary of Pacific Composting’s official launch - and just over 5 years since the project began.
This is a venture born from humble beginnings - not much more than a worm bin, an idea, and a business plan assignment that coalesced into something special for our founder, Andrea Blum, during her time at Gaia College.
What has grown from these small seeds is something truly unique and special (ok, we might be a little bit biased 😉) - a venture that’s on a mission to make composting more interesting, accessible and fun, and ultimately to have a positive impact on global soil health.
There have been plenty of challenges. There have been plenty of changes (some of them pretty major).
But all the way along we have kept, and continue to keep, our commitment to providing the best products and the best education and support that we possibly can!
A venture like this is only as good as the group of people involved. We have been very fortunate to end up with what we feel is a dream team of talented, passionate and kind souls. A group of people who have embraced, and contributed to, the original PC vision in a unified way - yet who also bring their own unique skills, knowledge, and perspectives to the table.
This isn’t just a business. It’s an idea incubator, a testing lab, and a demonstration project all wrapped into one. Andrea’s magical 14 acre Cowichan Valley plot has literally become a playground for people who want to make the world a better place, as corny as that might sound.
And based on all the positive feedback from our followers and customers, it feels like we are definitely on the right track - and we are so excited about the road ahead!
Moving forward…
We’ll be focusing more on the things that support our core mission and less on the things that don’t.
It’s as simple as that.
High quality education will always be at the heart of everything we do - and we’ll be bringing this to the forefront even more in the form of on-farm workshops, educational products, and consulting for those wanting to take their composting and soil health efforts to the next level.
They say that good things come in 3’s, and this 3rd year anniversary does feel a little bit “extra special”, since this has been an important number for us.
We have our “3 Zone” system set up approach, our “BIG 3” composting methods…
…and of course our 3 core pillars: 1) Systems, 2) Supplies, 3) Support, which we plan to strengthen and make more uniquely “PC” in the months and years ahead.
Something we are especially excited about is the expansion of our PC “In-House” product line!
We recently launched our Living Material and Johnson-Su products, but we’ve also got a new starter system (made from recycled ocean plastic), as well as a home-scale compost extraction bag in the pipeline for launch in the next 2 to 3 months.
This is definitely shaping up to be our most exciting year so far!

At the end of the day, this is ultimately a project focused on making a positive impact - so it means so much to see that we are doing that, in our uniquely “PC” way.
